Hi, I’m Steven.
I’m a videographer and writer with a background in social video and skills in editing, motion design, graphic design, vocal narration, and audio mixing. Most of all though, I love identifying and sharing a good story. While not classically trained, that hasn’t stopped me from continuing to hone my craft, as I prefer to learn by doing, defining my inter-disciplinary style. I’m as capable of writing and presenting to the camera or microphone as I am grinding through the nitty-gritty details in the editing booth. And while my portfolio may suggest I am most comfortable working solo, I believe I thrive the most in pragmatic and driven team environments where honest feedback flows freely, tough conversations aren’t avoided, and everyone competes hard, relying upon one another in pursuit of a shared goal.
During the 2020 pandemic, like many a creative, I took a chance on myself after being waylaid from work in the service industry. I started a new YouTube channel combining my passion for video games with a desire to inform, entertain, and connect with others while we were all stuck inside. I never wanted to be just another guy playing video games on the internet. I wanted to inspire curiosity and empathy using a blend of documentary style storytelling, analysis and critique commonly found in the flourishing video essay format, and a touch of vulnerability all through the lens of our shared enthusiasm for video games.
Statistically I was more successful than most, generating millions of views and over 20,000 YouTube subscribers over a four year period. I explored a number of different formats, such as shorter video essays sharing personal anecdotes, as well as feature-length, in depth documentary-like retrospectives requiring hundreds of hours to research, write, produce, and edit. While I developed a fascination for marketing in the games industry, examining Nintendo’s lost proclivity for authenticity to an audience of hundreds of thousands, I taught thousands more about their favorite games while shining a brighter spotlight on others that were due more attention. I even collaborated directly with some developers to amplify their stories, resulting in a collective thousands of followers gained for their social channels and real conversions to their Kickstarter campaigns. The most energizing and fulfilling experiences, however, were when I was able to connect deeply with viewers through a lens of vulnerability that has become rare on an increasingly cynical internet. When someone tells you “I’ve come back to rewatch this video several times,” you know you’re on the right track.
However, I also learned that not everyone needs to be the main character, and that for myself, I may be better suited for a different, more collaborative environment. Since the start of 2026 I’ve opened up my freelance services for video, audio, and graphic design, cultivating great, ongoing work relationships with creators like AntDude and Razbuten. I’m actively seeking new work and partnerships with creators, brands, and businesses alike, and while I’m most practiced in the gaming niche, I have many more interests and inclinations outside of it such as sports, politics, lifestyle, and educational videos and podcasts. What I can offer, and what I believe is emblematic across all the works in this portfolio, is strong storytelling instincts, keen attention to detail, social video knowledge and strategy with the results to back it up, and the drive to be a thoughtful and reliable team member. If that interests you, let’s connect. I’d love to work together.
